Optimizing Multi-UAV Deployment in 3-D Space to Minimize Task Completion Time in UAV-Enabled Mobile Edge Computing Systems

In Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-enabled mobile edge computing (MEC) systems, UAVs can carry servers to help ground user equipment (UEs) offloading their tasks the for execution. This letter aims minimize total time required complete offloaded tasks, while optimizing three-dimensional (3-D) deployment of UAVs, including flying height and horizontal positions. Although formulated optimization is a mixed integer nonlinear programming, we convert it convex problem develop successive approximation (SCA) based algorithm effectively solve it. The simulation results show that joint vertical position group achieve better performance than traditional algorithms.
